Super Eagles prospect Christantus Uche will most likely leave Spanish club Getafe after just one season, with several Premier League clubs on his trail, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
PUNCH Sports Extra had earlier reported that the young midfielder may be heading for Stamford Bridge, with Chelsea reportedly in contact with Getafe, which will see him join the Nigerian legion in the English top flight.
A UK tabloid, Transfer News Live, on Friday, wrote that the Blues and several other Premier Leagues are currently locked in battle for the youngster.
“Chelsea, Aston Villa, Bournemouth, and Newcastle are all interested in signing Getafe midfielder Christantus Uche,” the outlet wrote on X.
The young midfielder, who is currently basking in fame at Getafe, where he is adored by fans, has been tipped to leave the club in the upcoming transfer window.
Uche penned a four-year deal with the Deep Blue Ones to join them from Spanish third-tier side Ceuta for a meagre €500,000, with the option of a further 12 months, but speculations are rife that his future with the modest La Liga outfit is in the balance due to his top-draw performances for the club.
Despite making his league debut just a few months ago, the Nigerian has become one of the most outstanding players of the new campaign.
A defensive midfielder by trade, the 21-year-old, due to his skills and quick feet and eyes for goals, has often been deployed up front by Jose Bordalas.
Uche, who has earned a prominent place in the Madrid club’s squad and is already considered one of the biggest revelations of the campaign.
In September, Getafe placed a high transfer fee of over €10m on the versatile player, which a club like Chelsea and other EPL suitors will have no problem paying.
